"I will give you rest."
Read: Matthew 11
Happy Friday, fellow educators! Spring fever has sprung, end-of-year testing season fast approaches, and - ah, yes - the sun shines bright even into the evening hours these days. Feeling the fullness of the season? Take time out to relax or take part in an activity to help you restore your mind, heart, health, and soul. And, always, pray!
The nature of serving in the field of education is such that we give of ourselves to others each and every day. We must also take time to restore ourselves and fill up those precious parts of ourselves that we use to lift up our students, colleagues, and communities. In taking care of ourselves, we also are better prepared to serve in the mission of Christ.
In a sermon to his disciples, Jesus urged, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." What beautiful words from our beautiful savior. Praise his holy name!
PRAYER: Gracious, Heavenly Father, we come to you in prayer because we trust your words and guidance for us and believe that you can give us rest. Thank you for providing strength for us as we serve in the high-needs field of education, but also thank you for reminding us to come to you for the rest and restoration that we need personally. Please continue to lead us in ways that we reflect your love and light. We serve you and ask for these blessings in Christ's name. Amen.
