Read: Ecclesiastes 9
With the heat of summer in full swing, many students and educators already have their minds on the coming fall agenda, which may be filled with classes, school supplies, fall sports, fall events, and a variety of both opportunities and obligations. Think ahead: as the weather cools and the summer green of God's Creation transitions to a cast of beautiful fall colors, how will you live out your day-to-day routine? With whom will you interact the most? How will you spend your time? How will you feel about the ways you spend your time? Most importantly, what attitude will you choose to have and reflect to others in your life?
Whether you are taking on new projects or continuing to fulfill similar roles, whether you are feeling ready and motivated, unprepared and reluctant, or any other mix of emotions, remember that biblical wisdom advises: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest" (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Find joy in the daily grind. Seek peace in how you do what you do. Do your best in all that you do. Know that "God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love" (Hebrews 6:10). Approaching daily life at work, in your community, and at home with an attitude of joy is sure to bring peace to you and those around you.
PRAYER: Gracious, heavenly father, please fill us with your spirit and guide us to seek peace in our daily lives and to find eternal peace in heavenly places. We serve you and ask for these blessings in Christ's name. Amen.
