My Children Walk in the Truth

Read 3 John 1:1-8

For an educator, it can be exciting and fulfilling to see a student showing what he knows, revealing new learning, or demonstrating newly acquired skills. That’s what it’s all about, right? In his letter to a church leader named Gaius, the apostle John wrote, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth” (3 John 1:4). In what ways do you or can you let students know that you see their efforts?

As the school year starts up, we begin to plan a course for our students’ paths to reach their new learning. As we move forward, let’s acknowledge our students’ growth as we witness it throughout the school year, and let’s also take care to foster personal growth and make efforts to walk in God’s truth and light so that we demonstrate His truth to the world.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for shining your light into our lives and for establishing us in positions that allow us to help our students and those around us grow in ways that are pleasing to you. Please help us to notice and acknowledge the change and growth of our students so they might realize the potential that lies within their reach. We ask for these blessings in the name of your son, Jesus. Amen.
